Relief struggle against
invaders around Gedung Juang Tambun
|
Landhuis and Tamboen
private lands were confiscated from the Khouw Van Tamboen family in 1942 amid
Japanese occupation. At the time of the war of independence against the Dutch, Gedung
Juang which at that time known as Gedung Tinggi was made a place of defense by
the freedom fighters who were then centered in the region of Tambun and
Cibarusah.
Gedung Juang is located
just a few kilometers from the outer border of Batavia's Sasak Jarang area
which is now a border area between East Bekasi subdistrict, Bekasi city with South
Tambun subdistrict, Bekasi district. As a result of Dutch defense in the Bekasi
region is often attacked, the Dutch often leave their defensive places in
Bekasi and withdraw to strengthen their defensive areas in Klender, which then
becomes the boundary between the city of Bekasi and east Jakarta.
